Credit Card Laws Change for Spouses Who Stay Home

More Women Stay Home Than Men
It seems a bit crazy, but i just read in this weeks paper that the banks now want to stop aloowing spouses who stay home to take care of their children, no ability to get a credit card because they do not earn an income.
Maybe they should just limit all house-holds to one credit card ONLY.
Have you noticed how much it cost to even have a credit card? Citi Bank raised their membership fees to $85.00. I was outraged. The store/retail credit cards like Macy's, Dillard's, Sear's are free. They want you to shop. They know you will spend more if you can stick it on a plastic card.
I think it would be a great idea if stores stopped luring and baiting customers to go into debt by offering a measly 10% off the purchase just for applying for a credit card. Stores off those cards because they know we will spend more with their store plastic.
In my opinion, banks should devise a credit card for the unemployed only with a limit of $1000.00. This would help out in an emergency! One can only spend up to $1000.00. Once you have spend your limit, your credit card is frozen until you have paid it off. Too many people are on borrowed lots of credit with more than one credit card. I remember back in the 1980's when you had to have a job in order to qualify for a credit card with very high limits. It was a status to have a Black American Express Card. Those days are over. Who cares about plastic status.
Today, status means CASH in the bank, not giant credit card debt. My idea would be for banks to raise credit card limits only when an unemployed person has proof of employment and develops a 1 year history of employment. This is what they use to do before in the early 80's. No one would ever dream of putting everything on plastic. If you ask me the plastic is what has lead everybody astray and into too much debt.
It seems kinda crazy, we live in a digital & many things require a credit card number. The best thing is using cash and never having to rely on a credit card. Shopping online requires with a credit card unless you use Pay-pal. I do not recommend using a debit card. A hacker can clean out your hard earned money. In the past, we used a Citi Bank-Continental credit card for flying perks for 8 years. It was good up until they changed their requirements with how many miles you had to earn for a free flight or an upgrade. You guessed it, they made it too difficult to cash in your miles because they has so many blackout dates. We no longer use Continental. Now we use a Marriott Credit Card for hotel perks.
By the way, I also think the interest rates should be 8%, not 18%. The grace period should be 28 days for everyone. Oh, but hey this is just my observation...

I do not have a credit card and it has been many years since I have. Guess I learned from my parents either you have it or you don't and by Dec 1st every year I have about all my shopping done. I look at sales all year. Most people who know me are amazed at the deals I get. I wouldn't want Christmas to be about stress. Now if I can work up energy to clean house, lol.
Wow I have a feeling people are using the plastic this year. I don't remember it ever being so busy so early. I went through a Macy's a few days ago too and man, only a fool would shop there! They are too high with the 80% off! I walked on through. Voted up.
